Meet Sarah aka The Tea Girl!  Sarah is the owner of one of the best tea places in the city located at 12411 Stony Plain Road aptly named The Tea Girl.  Tea has been Sarah’s passion for the last 15 years.  She originally went to school for the tech side of theatre but soon realized it wasn’t something she wanted to make a career out of.  As Sarah says, “I started going to tea shops and learning about tea and was ignited from there.  I’ve always had tea in my life and it just sparked an interest.” After college Sarah was given advice from another business owner to learn the tea industry, so that’s just what she did.  She went to work for the company that owned the Steeps Corporation at that time and it was from working there that she learned that a Steeps location in Edmonton would be available to take over.  “It wasn’t my plan to come to Edmonton but it’s worked out.  Everything seems to happen for a reason, maybe you’re not expecting it but as long as you can handle it, it’s a good time.”  It was 2010 when Sarah took over the Steeps and it was two years ago that the rebrand came and it was renamed The Tea Girl.  “I always called myself the tea girl, so why not go with that brand. Really the store is an extension of who I am.”  For those that don’t know The Tea Girl’s logo is a version of Sarah’s face, which I think is super cool!  As Sarah says about her store, “ The store is absolutely nothing what I originally pictured but everything that I want. It’s given me the ability to be in the community as my identity which I never expected, like to go out there and be like this is who I am, this it what I’m doing. Tea is my life.”

If you haven’t had a chance to check out The Tea Girl, I recommend doing so.  The staff is so super awesome and they had an amazing selection of teas.  You can also find them at the 124St Grand Market on Thursdays; they are always one of my fave stops at the market, as I love their iced tea and tea popsicles! Also Sarah is hoping to be able to expand her space in the neat future and as that can be quite an undertaking for a small business she hopes to launch a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the expansion so watch for those details to appear!  Thanks Sarah for having us come into your business it was awesome to learn more about you and The Tea Girl!

And thanks to Bry-Anne Pearson for doing an amazing job on Sarah’s make-up.  I love getting to work with you on this series!
