Miami Beach 100 | Miami Event Photographer

A couple of weeks ago I decided to take a holiday to visit one of my closest childhood friends, Christine Cooper, who now lives in Miami.  She works in the world of event production and was hired as the Site Producer by ACT Productions the Executive Producers of this very cool event, The Miami Beach 100 celebrating the Miami Beach centennial!  As I would be in town for this event I was given the opportunity to have a media pass to photograph the event and what an amazing opportunity it was!  Miami Beach definitely knows how to celebrate!  The Miami Beach 100 event was a five day event with everything from fashion shows to a final most amazing concert! For me the event started before it started as I able to come on site and see some of the final stages of the construction.  It is amazing how much time and work goes in to producing such large events.  It was super cool to see some of the behind the scenes and even learn how those giant lcd screens really work!

The offical day one of the Miami Beach 100 kicked off with Funkshion celebrating fashion week Miami.  The show featured collections from Liliana Montoya Swim, Penguin, and Cubavera. The night ended with one of the most entertaining performances by some super fun women in a wild and fun drag show! Day two featured 100 couples getting married by the Mayor, Philip Levine and an officient, on beautiful Southbeach.  It was so amazing to part of this as the energy was full of love and happiness celebrating these couples either marrying or renewing their vows.  Day three celebrated Florida's rich tennis history with a fun pro am tournament and an exhibition match between Milos Raonic and Ernests Gulbis.  As a tennis fan and a fan of Milos Raonic this was so cool to be part of and be able to watch and photograph the players so up close! After the event Hard Rock had a fun after party in their private beach club that was built ocean side next to the stage! Day four was a little lower key as it was the day for the final stages of set up for the big concert on day five and all the main artists had their sound checks.  I had never been to a sound check before so it was pretty cool to watch the artists practice and make sure everything was going to be set up to their liking.

Day five was the final and biggest day as it was the big concert the week had been building up to! It started in the afternoon with some very talented rising Miami artists getting to showcase a couple of their songs.  In the afternoon and evening I was lucky enough to go up high in a zoom boom lift to get some photos of the venue and surroundings.  As when I was up there some very cool parachuters came down as part of the celebration!  As the night went on the bigger artists such as, Andrea Bocelli, Gloria Estefan, Barry Gibb, Wyclef, and Flo Rida took the stage. It was absolutely amazing to listen to the Miami Symphony Orchestra with Andrea Bocelli, the music was some of the most beautiful music I've ever listened to. Gloria Estefan was my other highlight, as a child of the late 80's/90's I definitey grew up listening to her music and it was so much fun to see how much fun the crowd had when she performed.  It was also so cool as the actor, Andy Garcia, took the stage with her to play the bongos for a few songs! Overall I had such an awesome experience photographing this event and the people taking in and enjoying the festivities.  I met and photographed so many cool people from people I worked with, other super talented photographers, and some personalities taking in the events, including one of the founders of MTV and artist and producer, Al B. Sure!

I'm definitely hoping to visit Miami again sooner than later! :) xo
